Today was the first day back to lectures for me, and I had some interesting sessions so it wasn’t a bad start to the term.

Although the day started out freezing, overcast and gloomy by the time I’d finished lectures at half three the sun was out and the campus was bathed in glorious light. I knew I’d just missed the bus back so I thought I would take the scenic route round the lake to waste a bit of time.  I’m so glad I did as it was a really beautiful afternoon and I was able to get some lovely photos so I have added a few below.

The first is of one of my favourite views on campus it is a lovely spot to sit and have lunch too when it is a little warmer.

This is normally a very gentle stream feeding into the lake but after the recent rainfall it was flowing considerably faster than usual.

As I walked round the lake I spotted a male swan with a now fairly old cygnet. So below are a few photos of them. Firstly their is the adult male.

The cygnet, whose adult feathers are starting to be visible

And then finally the pair of them together in near perfect symmetry.
