We headed to Reims for the day today as the weather wasn’t looking great for cycling etc. We first went to the Cathedral, which was as to be expected vast! They are in the process of renovating the whole exterior of the cathedral as it has suffered badly from the weather and pollution etc. which is why in the first image on the left, some of the carvings are sparkling white (the newly renovated ones) and others are somewhat black! The image on the right is some more of the carvings in a different area of the cathedral.

The last image is of one of the stained glass windows inside the cathedral. All of the windows were beautiful, and it really does amaze me to thinks that many thousands of years ago people patiently put these windows together without the ‘help’ of modern day machinery. I think they are more beautiful than most things that are made by today’s machines too.

After visiting the cathedral, we had a picnic lunch and then went to visit Tattinger champagne house. We were taken on a tour of the caves, and given a history of the company and details of how their champagne is made. It was a very interesting experience and we learnt alot. It is well worth a visit, but if you do go remember to wear a jumper it is about 5degrees C in the caves, and you are down there for about an hour.
