This week has been an exciting time. Not only did the olympic torch relay pass through Norwich but we also had the Lord Mayor’s Celebrations including the procession on Sunday.

Firstly I’ll start with the torch relay, we were lucky with the weather. It had been raining all day and then in the afternoon it started to clear up, but by the time people were starting to line the streets in anticipation the sun had come out and it stayed like that for the rest of the evening.
To start with we had the ‘advanced’ party with all the media trucks etc and then shortly afterwards the torch bearer and their numerous escorts came into view. It was all very exciting. I just about managed to get a couple of photos of him, which didn’t have someone else stood in front of me! The town was so busy, but with a great atmosphere. So here are a few photos of the afternoon.

Then on the weekend much of the town lined the streets once more for the Lord Mayor’s Procession. Having never been to a parade before I was quite excited and I’m glad I went. It was again a really great way to spend the afternoon. This year the ‘floats’ all had an Olympic theme which was quite funny – my favourite being the synchronised sumo swimming. We also got another opportunity to see some of the torch bearers from the region and I even got to touch one of their torches this time!! Again a few photos from the day, as always if you would like to see more you can on my flickr site.
